Following the introduction of the engineered stone ban across the country late last year, new rules for working with products containing more than 1% silica came into effect on 1 September 2024.

It is mandatory for a PCBU, where it is reasonably practicable, to provide any information, instruction, training or supervision necessary to protect all persons from health and safety risks. As building sites commonly involve activities that generate respirable crystalline silica (RCS) , it is necessary for the PCBU to provide this training. HIA’s silica training is a simple and cost-effective solution for mitigation and management of RCS risk.

You will learn:

  • What is Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS)?
  • Which materials contain crystalline silica and how workers can be exposed to RCS
  • Current requirements for working with materials containing silica
  • Information and tools available for working safely with materials that contain silica
  • Air and health monitoring requirements
  • New Codes regarding Silica exposure
  • Workplace Exposure Standards (WES)

Cost : HIA Member - 110.00 : Non Member - $165.00
