Apprentices - applying for your licence

After you complete an electrical, plumbing or gas-fitting apprenticeship you will need to apply for a practitioner’s licence. You need to apply for your licence within one month of completing your training. Your work must still be supervised until your licence is granted.

Trades such as Carpenters, concreters and bricklayers are not licensed in Tasmania. However if you want to manage or certify building work, you will need to apply for a builder's licence. More information is available here: Builder licence.

Eligibility

Apprentices must complete their contract of training and be granted their relevant qualification to be eligible to apply for a licence.

CPD (Continuing Professional Development)

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

As a licence holder, you will be required to maintain and develop skills and knowledge through ongoing learning activities known as continuing professional development (CPD). Find out more information about CPD points, training providers, events and training resources here:  CPD (Continuing Professional Development) (cbos.tas.gov.au)
