The HIA GreenSmart® Professional course helps builders and designers apply sustainable residential building practices that are practical, efficient, and future-ready — benefiting their clients, their business, and the environment.
HIA GreenSmart® is Australia’s original training program for sustainable home building. This comprehensive course is tailored for both HIA members and non-members who want to:
- Gain practical knowledge of environmentally responsible design and construction
- Understand current energy frameworks, climate targets, and sustainability standards
- Meet the growing market demand for greener homes and renovations
- Demonstrate their commitment to sustainability with trusted GreenSmart accreditation
The course is delivered in two parts:
Eight online self-paced modules - 8 hours online and one virtual session (1 x 4 hour session)
- Module 1 - Setting the scene
- Module 2 - Understanding and applying sustainability in GreenSmart Design
- Module 3 - Seasonally passive principles
- Module 4 - Responding to the environment
- Module 5 - Reduce, Reconsider, Reapply
- Module 6 - Construction methods
- Module 7 - Thermal performance
- Module 8 - Marketing credentials
