Course outline

Buildings are long-lived and the impact of poor energy efficiency can last for the life of the building. Volume Two first included energy efficiency provisions in 2003 as part of national reforms to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

This 2 hour course includes 3 chapters which cover:

  • How the Volume Two energy efficiency provisions apply; relevant Performance Requirements and compliance options.
  • An overview of the 2 Deemed-to-Satisfy options for building energy efficiency in Volume Two (energy rating and elemental provisions).
  • An introduction to building energy efficiency Verification Methods for housing in Volume Two including a worked example of verification using a reference building.

The course will be of interest for practitioners involved in the design of Class 1 and Class 10 buildings, including:

  • architects
  • building designers, and
  • draftspersons

The course may also be of interest to other building and compliance practitioners working on housing projects.

Are there any pre-requisites?

Practitioners taking part in the course should have some prior knowledge, understanding and experience in the practical application of the NCC and of local building regulations.
