Render Finishing Systems

Overview: This course aims to increase their knowledge and understanding of render finishing systems.  The course duration is one hour and is approved by the Australian institute of Architects.

At the conclusion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the importance of correctly specifying the coating requirements for key substrate types, to ensure appropriate material selection for the project design (AACA Competency Documentation: Detailed Design: Schematic design 4.6 Investigation and integration of appropriate material selection for the project design).
  • Identify the risks associated with inappropriate specification of cement render over certain substrates, to ensure the design response incorporates assessment of relevant legislation, codes and industry standard coatings (AACA Competency Design: Conceptual design 3.4 Design response incorporates assessment of the relevant legislation, codes and industry standards).

Passive Sustainability in Residential Design

Overview: This course will reveal the building elements for creating a comfortable residential home through passive design. It will explain some of the features, their function and beneficial aspects that when placed together, provide the potential for better liveable built environments.
